What is Pride?

Pride historical background

Pride finds its roots in the Stonewall Uprising of June 1970. This pivotal moment was ignited by LGBTQ+ individuals, notably trans women of color, who resisted police harassment and brutality at the Stonewall Inn in New York City.

Fueled by decades of activism and organizing within the LGBTQ+ community, the uprising marked a turning point in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. It gave rise to the first Pride marches in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago a year later.

Despite the progress achieved, LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face challenges today, encountering discrimination, prejudice, and violence based on their sexual orientations and gender identities.

Decorative Sushi Class

In this class you will experiment with Kazari Maki-Zushi, a decorative sushi technique. Guided by a sushi chef, you will craft your own sushi designs using natural colors and ingredients. From floral patterns to fruit motifs, animal shapes, or even logos, the possibilities are endless! The process of making and admiring your finished creations on the dining table is sure to bring smiles to all who see (and taste) them.

This decorative sushi is surprisingly simple and accessible, requiring no prior experience. It is much like constructing with Legos, where each piece stacks up to create a delightful edible masterpiece. It is a great way to enjoy company.

Needle Felt Your Pet

Take your team on a needle-felting adventure, where they get to create a needle-felted sculpture of their pet (or a fictional character). Your team's creations could become great desk decor and gifts for friends and family.

What to expect

Intro to needle felting techniques and safety
Pick the right colors to match your pet
Poke at pieces of wool many, many, many times to sculpt your pet
Show and tell!

What you'll need

You'll need to send photos of your pets and/or fictional characters you want to work on. Your instructor will need a few days to source wool of the right color. All supplies will be provided!
