Celebrate Thanksgiving with fun team-building activities that strengthen bonds and foster collaboration. These outings and events will bring your team together for a memorable holiday!
There have been days of Thanksgiving around the world for centuries, and it usually coincides with the end of the harvest. The first Thanksgiving in the United States is usually attributed to an autumn harvest feast shared between the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag Native Americans. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared a National Thanksgiving Day to be held on the final Thursday of every November.
Thanksgiving is a time for celebrating the harvest and giving thanks for all the goodness in our lives. It's a season when families and friends come together to enjoy good food and share meaningful moments, creating lasting memories with those we cherish.
Have a Thanksgiving potluck, and encourage your team to bring their favorite dish and then share why they love this specific dish.
Create a gratitude tree/wall for your team and encourage them to post their gratitude throughout the month of November. Then, invite your team to write down all the things they are grateful for. Tell them to use one post-it note for each item and then post it to the wall.
Have a Thanksgiving Trivia Challenge for your team. Use the website in the Resources section to find printable Thanksgiving trivia pages. Split your employees into groups and see which team can answer the most trivia questions correctly in fifteen minutes.
Have a gratitude gathering—bring in coffee and donuts of fall fruits and nuts for your team, and then have a gratitude-sharing circle. Start with yourself by sharing what you are grateful for about your job. Then, go around the circle and give each person a chance to share their gratitude. This is a good place to share your gratitude for each of your employees.
Have your team create a food box for a needy family, or have a canned food drive to donate to your local food bank.
Host a brown bag session and discuss what Thanksgiving Day means to your team. What traditions do they have for celebrating Thanksgiving? Who do they celebrate with? What do they do that is special? Do they watch the parades or football? Do they volunteer at a food bank? Do they play football with their friends and families? Is there a specific food that makes it feel like Thanksgiving?
